Mel Capistrano studied Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona. While there, he also embraced Cal Poly’s learn-by- doing motto by leading a team who built an electric boat for competition, and served as an Engineering Club President, Council of Engineering Student Organizations President, and finally Engineering Student Chapter Treasurer. After graduating with his Bachelor’s degree, he began work at the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as an Air Resources Engineer in new engine/vehicle emissions certification. Mel is now using these experiences to help the organization to further their goals. He currently serves as the EWB-LA Professional Chapter’s Vice President. E-mail Mel.
